Equine Massage

As a rider who has suffered many injuries over the years, I have often enjoyed a sports massage bringing instant relief and relaxation. The one good thing to come out of my many injuries is that I can now understand better how horses are feeling with particular injuries. I’ve even experienced joint injections for arthritic changes and felt how that impacts my body and muscles.

Now your horses can benefit from massage from myself, as I am fully qualified and insured in equine massage.

Equine Massage is a hands-on therapy that involves assessment and manipulation of the body using a range of soft tissue techniques alongside stretching, joint mobilisations, fascia releases and muscle activations.

During each session I will palpate your horses’ muscles all over feeling for areas of tightness/change in muscle tone, inflammation, heat or cold, areas of discomfort or decreased range of movement are a vital part of the assessment as well as using a range of specific soft tissue techniques to aid relaxation and recovery.

Your horse will be assessed visually, both statically and dynamically, this may include in hand and ridden work. I will be observing, posture, muscle asymmetry, hoof balance/shoeing as well as tack/equipment alongside taking a full medical and lifestyle history.

By assessing the many factors that can influence a horse’s way of going, as your horse’s therapist I can work with you towards improving their overall performance, comfort and lifestyle and can also work alongside your vet, chiropractor, physiotherapist, farrier and saddle fitter to plan the best options for your individual horse.

I use a combination of techniques from direct pressure, myofascial release, low level laser and pulse magnetic therapy to release any adhesions or areas of tension.

Please get in touch if you think your horse would benefit from an equine massage session.
